Chapter 2<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 2 verse 62<\/a><\/p>\n krodhAdhbhavathi sammOha: sammOhAth smruthivibhrama: |<\/em> krOdhAth – due to that anger Due to that anger, dementation occurs; due to dementation, loss of memory occurs; due to loss of memory, destruction of intelligence occurs; due to destruction of intelligence, he himself perishes (by drowning in this samsAram (material realm)).<\/p>\n ‘From wrath comes folly; from folly, dementation. From dementation, wreck of the will; from wreck of will, (he) perishes.’<\/span><\/p>\n To him whose cravings for sense-objects linger, the effort to conquer the senses, without entering his mind into Me, is frustrated, inasmuch as (without My help), the reminiscences of past sins keep his mind preying on sense-objects.<\/span><\/p>\n This rumination effects<\/a> a junction (with the objects), which becomes more and more firm.<\/span><\/p>\n From this union springs lust (k\u0101ma<\/em>). Lust is the completion-stage of the union (sanga<\/em>), or k\u0101ma<\/em>, lust or appetite, is that which a man feels when he cannot stand without its being gratified.<\/span><\/p>\n From k\u0101ma<\/em> springs krodha<\/em>=hate, malice or anger. This is that irritated feeling excited against other persons, who, the man of lust thinks, stand in his way of obtaining gratification from pleasures, not yet near at hand.<\/span><\/p>\n From krodha<\/em> comes sam-moha<\/em>=folly or infatuation, which is the state in which the discrimination between what is right to do, or wrong to do, is lost. And the fool therefore does anything.<\/span><\/p>\n Thence<\/a> follows dementation<\/em>, or loss of the links of memory in the effort which he has begun to make in order to conquer senses etc.<\/span><\/p>\n From dementation follows the wreck of the will<\/em> (or will-power). The will here is the cultivation or labor he expends (on the mental plane) towards obtaining \u0101tma<\/em>-knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n From loss of will, he perishes<\/em>; i.e., he is drowned again in sams\u0101ra<\/em>[1. Lit: that which \u2018runs or courses\u2019; means the circuit or circle of wordly existence, mundane life, material existence, matter-tied or matter-consorting existence, conditioned secular career, or matter-soul existence, coursing through a transmigratory revolution of births and deaths alternating.
