Chapter 2<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 2 verse 71<\/a><\/p>\n Simple<\/a><\/p>\n e\u1e63\u0101 br\u0101hm\u012b sthiti\u1e25 p\u0101rtha ‘This is the Br\u0101hm\u012b-state, P\u0101rtha[1. Epithet of Arjuna, being a descendant of P\u1e5bithu-Chakravarti.]! attaining which one will not be deluded. Remaining in it (state), even in old age, he will attain to Brahm-bliss.’<\/span><\/p>\n This is the state, or condition of work-performance in an unselfish or disinterested manner, based on the knowledge (or belief) of the eternal (nature of) \u0101tm\u0101<\/em>. This method has for its aim the achievement of true wisdom (sthita-dh\u012b<\/em>[2. The wisdom or sthita-praj\u00f1at\u0101<\/em>, is the superior illumination, or super-sensuous consciousness, or intuition produced by Yoga-practice; vide<\/em> my Three Lectures on “Inspiration, etc.”<\/em>. Will-concentration is ripened wisdom; this is a spiritual illumination of the mind which sets in before \u0101tm\u0101 is realised. It may be called intuition. Knowing the philosophy of work to be like this, he will no more be under infatuation, meaning that he will not again enter sams\u0101ra[3. See note …] (the mirage of conditioned existence). If one adopts this method, even in his declining years, he will attain Brahma-nirv\u0101\u1e47a<\/em>, or Brahm-bliss<\/em> (final liberation), i.e., he will attain to \u0101tm\u0101<\/em>, the seat of exclusive beatitude.<\/span><\/p>\n Thus, in the Second Lecture, -to him who was ignorant of the nature of \u0101tm\u0101<\/em>, and that work like war etc., leads to \u0101tm\u0101<\/em>-attainment; -to him who labored under the misconception that body is \u0101tm\u0101<\/em>; who, under this misconception retired from battle, -(to Arjuna), was declared the S\u0101\u1e47khya-knowledge concerning the eternal \u0101tm\u0101<\/em>, and the Yoga (or union)-producing sthita-praj\u00f1at\u0101<\/em>[4.
