one who is focussed on gyAna<br \/>\nkarmEndhriyANi &#8211; sense organs such as mouth, speech, hands, feet etc<br \/>\nsamyamya &#8211; controlling them well (so that they are not engaged in sensual pleasures)<br \/>\nvimUdAthmA &#8211; but having the heart\/mind which lacks knowledge about self<br \/>\nmanasA &#8211; in (that) mind<br \/>\nindhriyArthAn &#8211; sensual pleasures which are the food for sense organs<br \/>\nsmaran AsthE &#8211; thinking about them<br \/>\nsa: &#8211; he<br \/>\nmithyAchAra: &#8211; having defective discipline<br \/>\nuchyathE &#8211; said to be<\/p>\n<h3>Simple Translation<\/h3>\n<p>One who is focussed on gyAna [yOga], controlling his sense organs such as mouth, speech, hands, feet etc well (so that they are not engaged in sensual pleasures), but having the heart\/mind which lacks knowledge about self and thinking about sensual pleasures which are the food for sense organs in his mind, is said to be having defective discipline.<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Pretender is that \u0101tma-ignorant man, who in inhibiting the functions of the senses, yet, in mind, broods over sense-objects.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whoso, with the load of sins, not yet disburdened, with no control yet acquired over the inner and outer-sense-activities, strives for \u0101tma-wisdom, but if he allows his thoughts to dwell on sense-objects, implying his love for them (not yet ceased), -and therefore his thoughts are absent from <em>\u0101tm\u0101<\/em>,- his conduct is false, for while he pretends to be doing one thing, he is doing another.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A man of this description striving for <em>\u0101tm\u0101<\/em>-knowledge, surely misses his mark and perishes.(<em>i.e.,<\/em> fails).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/3-7\">&gt;&gt;
