It may be that it is generally known that a certain act is one which ought to be performed, yet all men wait to see how a good man, a leader of society, takes the initiative, and then they will do it, following suit.<\/span><\/p>\n Hence a man of special distinction or character ought always to show the example to the world, by first playing himself the part in all duties assigned to his caste (var\u1e47a<\/em>[2. The four var\u1e47as<\/em> are Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, Kshatriya, Vai\u015bya and \u015a\u016bdra.]) and order in life (\u0101\u015brama<\/em>[3. The four \u0101\u015bramas are Brahmacharya (bachelor and student), G\u0101rhastya (married life), V\u0101naprastha (retired forest life) and Sany\u0101sa (monastic or ascetic life).]).
