Rid of desire and \u2018my-ness\u2019, and of (mental) fever, fight.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Me, the Inner-Soul of all living beings, place all your acts; with your mind <em>\u0101tm\u0101<\/em>-engrossed, desireless (of fruit for work done), destitute of the vanity of my-ness, and free from feverish (cankering) care, <em>fight<\/em>, i. e., discharge all \u015a\u0101str\u0101-enjoined duties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Adhy\u0101tma-chetas\u0101<\/em>=with the mind <em>\u0101tm\u0101-absorbed<\/em> <em>i.e.<\/em>, all thought absorbed in the contemplation of the nature of <em>\u0101tm\u0101<\/em> as proclaimed by hundreds of \u015aruti-texts, such for example as:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Penetrating the interior, the Ruler of all creatures, the all-Soul etc.'[1. &#8216;Antah pravishta\u015b\u015b\u0101st\u0101 jan\u0101n\u0101m sarv\u0101tm\u0101.&#8217; Tait: Aran. III-11-2]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;He, Who is seated in \u0101tm\u0101, Who is interior to \u0101tm\u0101, Whom \u0101tm\u0101 knows not, to Whom \u0101tm\u0101 is body, Who rules in the interior of \u0101tm\u0101, (He) is thy Indwelling Governor (Guide), and Immortality (i.e., Giver of Immortality) etc\u2019[3. &#8216;Ya \u0101tmani tisht\u1e25ann \u0101tmanontaro Yam-\u0101tm\u0101 na veda, Yasy-\u0101tm\u0101 \u015bar\u012bram, Ya \u0101tm\u0101nam antaro yamayati Sa ta \u0100tm\u0101ntry\u0101my-Am\u1e5bita\u1e25&#8217;. In other words, let all acts be done as acts of Worship paid to Me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, be <em>nir\u0101\u015bih<\/em>, desireless, i.e., remaining without any expectancy of fruit for work done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Nirmama\u1e25<\/em>=to be free from the idea of \u2018my-ness\u2019 or owning an act for oneself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your (mental) fever thus cured (<em>vigata-jvara\u1e25<\/em>), do fighting and all the round of duties (that the sacred Edicts make binding on you).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your reflections ought to run thus:\u2014 \u2018My Soul (<em>\u0100tm\u0101<\/em>) is the Supreme Spirit, and therefore, He, my <em>\u0100tm\u0101<\/em>, is the Author (or Actor). The Lord of all, the Master of all, it is He, Who causes acts being done \u2014acts of worship to Him\u2014 by me, who am His body, and therefore His instrument. And therefore no notion of \u2018my-ness\u2019 or ownership of acts done, I can entertain.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus shall your fever leave you, \u2014the fever or mental trouble evinced by your thoughts: \u2018how am I going to escape from the enormous mass of sins committed in the immemorial past etc.?\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may thus cheerfully enter on the duties prescribed for you, \u2014Karma-Yoga\u2014, reflecting that by them, you do but worship the Supreme Spirit; and He so worshipped delivers you from bondage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That Paramapurusha[6. <em>Parama-Purusha<\/em> = Synonym <em>Purushottama<\/em>&#8230;: <em>Purusha<\/em> means etymologically He who grants abundance; &#8220;<em>puru=bahu, sanoti=dad\u0101ti.<\/em>&#8221; Thus Parama-Purusha means the Supreme all-Giver.
