Chapter 4<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 4 verse 2<\/a><\/p>\n sa EvAyam mayA thE\u2019dhya yOga: prOktha: purAthana: | <\/em> purAthana: – ancient Due to your being my devotee and friend, this ancient karma yOga which is the best and confidential knowledge related to vEdhAntha, was taught to you in detail by me today.<\/p>\n ‘This self-same ancient Yoga<\/em> is what is now propounded by Me to you, \u2014mysterious and best\u2014, as you are My devotee, My friend.’<\/span><\/p>\n You should not suppose: \u2018The Yoga<\/em>, You have expounded, is but a persuasive speech intended to induce me to fight\u2019; for I expounded it Myself to Vivasv\u0101n (the Sun), is the Method by which to obtain moksha<\/em> \u2014the sublime ambition of man\u2014, a Measure designed for the salvation of the whole Universe. Vivasv\u0101n to Manu, Manu to Ikshv\u0101ku, and so on successively transmitted, the Royal Saints came to learn it. But with (long lapse of) time, and owing to the dull understanding of men, the Yoga<\/em> well nigh became forgotten. That very same Yoga<\/em>, pure, entire and in all detail, is what is revealed to you by Me, now; because you bear Me friendship, and have, in all loving devotion, sought Me as your sole Asylum. No one, save Myself, is able to understand or to preach (to others) this Yoga<\/em> inasmuch as it is the Sublime Wisdom, the Mystery of the Ved\u0101ntas[1.
