Karma is action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>A-karma<\/em> or the <em>other<\/em> than action, is wisdom (j\u00f1\u0101na), <em>viz<\/em>; wisdom concerning \u0101tma, which is the subject to be considered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(The two predications thus are):\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whoso sees \u0101tm\u0101-wisdom in an action which is actually being performed ; and,<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whoso, while stationed in \u0101tma-wisdom, yet sees (therein) action.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He who, by contemplation of the real nature of \u0101tma sees, thus, the wisdom-aspect of the action which he actually performs, realizes the first predication. And again he who could conceive the work-aspect of all wisdom, \u2014in other words, who could conceive all wisdom,\u2014 or mental or intellectual operations, such as meditation on \u0101tma-nature and such other deep and intense thoughts,\u2014 as but act (i.e., wisdom or knowledge is a kind of act also), realizes the second predication[1. In this connection, reflect on the expression &#8216;thought-form&#8217;, a scientific term of the Nineteeth Century. Also the metaphysical abstractions &#8216;thought is act intended&#8217;, &#8216;act is thought extended&#8217;. Also the Vedic statement such as &#8216;He thought and He became&#8217;, <em>becoming<\/em> being the act, or thought <em>executed<\/em>.].<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By actually doing work \u2014the objective\u2014 and at the same time reflecting (or meditating) in the mind the true nature of \u0101tma (in connection with work) \u2014the subjective\u2014 both the positions are realized[2. Read a second volume to this Lecture for an apt illustration, taken from To\u1e37appar*s <em>Sm\u1e5biti-ratn\u0101kara<\/em>, to elucidate this abstruse point in <em>Karma-yoga<\/em>.].<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whoso thus sees how in work (<em>karma<\/em>) is involved wisdom (<em>a-karma<\/em>) or meditation of \u0101tma-nature, he is the wise man among men i.e., he is said to be conversant with the ultimate import of all the \u015a\u0101stras.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is the <em>yukta<\/em> or <em>fit<\/em> man to earn moksha.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He has <em>done all work<\/em> (<em>K\u1e5bitsna-karma-krit<\/em>). i.e., he has accomplished or carried out in actuality, the essence of all \u015a\u0101stra-teaching.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How is wisdom-aspect tenable, to an act which is actually visibly performed?
