Chapter 4<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 4 verse 39<\/a><\/p>\n Simple<\/a><\/p>\n aj\u00f1a\u015b c\u0101\u015braddadh\u0101na\u015b ca ‘The ignorant, non-earnest, skeptic-minded, perishes. To the skeptic-minded, this world is not, nor the other, nor happiness.’<\/span><\/p>\n A-j\u00f1a\u1e25<\/em> or ignorant: is he who is uninstructed in wisdom.<\/span><\/p>\n A-\u015braddha-dh\u0101na\u1e25<\/em> or the non-earnest: is he who lacks faith or fervour, even after instruction.<\/span><\/p>\n The skeptic: is he who doubts the knowledge he has received.<\/span><\/p>\n The man of this disposition perishes. That is, that to the man who doubts the true nature of \u0101tma, which is taught him, there is neither this material world, nor the other (svarga etc).<\/span><\/p>\n That is to say, he forfeits all the fruits of man\u2019s ambition; dharma<\/em>, artha<\/em> and k\u0101ma<\/em>[1. See commentary of verse 31<\/a>. Dharma and Artha are S\u0101dhanas<\/em> (means); K\u0101ma<\/em> and Moksha<\/em> are S\u0101dhyas<\/em>(ends or goals).]. while so, whence<\/a> moksha<\/em>?<\/span><\/p>\n For, all the ambitions of man are gratifiable by carrying out some one or the other of \u015a\u0101stra-enjoined duties.
