Chapter 6 verse 3<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>SlOkam \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/6-4-original\/\">Original<\/a><\/h3>\n<p><em>yadhA hi nEndhriyArthEshu na karmasvanushajjate |<\/em><br \/>\n<em> sarvasankalpasanyasI yogArUdas tadhOchyathE ||<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>word-by-word meaning  <\/h3>\n<p>(ayam yOgI) &#8211; This karma yOga nishta (practitioner)<br \/>\nindhriyArthEshu &#8211; in the sense objects such as Sabdham (sound) etc which are enjoyed by sensory organs<br \/>\nyadhA &#8211; when<br \/>\nna anushajjathE &#8211; becomes detached<br \/>\nkarmasu &#8211; in the karmas which are means for such enjoyment of sense objects<br \/>\nyadhA &#8211; when<br \/>\nna anushajjathE &#8211; becomes detached<br \/>\nsarva sankalpa sanyAsi &#8211; he who has given up all worldly desires<br \/>\nthadhA &#8211; in that state<br \/>\nyOgArUda: uchyathE &#8211; he is said to have realised the self.<\/p>\n<h3>Simple Translation  <\/h3>\n<p>When this karma yOga nishta (practitioner) becomes detached from the sense objects such as Sabdham (sound) etc which are enjoyed by sensory organs, becomes detached from the karmas which are means for such enjoyment of sense objects and when he gives up all worldly desires, he is said to have realised the self in that state.<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Then is he called yoga-perfected (fixed in meditation) when he has ceased from loving, sense-objects and (sense-)promptings; when he has shaken off every illusion.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The yog-\u0101r\u016bdha (or meditation-accomplished man) is he who, from his experience of \u0101tma-bliss, has ceased to love the sensuous material objects, nor does he <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/countenance#Verb\">countenance<\/a> the impulses of the senses, in relation to such objects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Not loving<\/em> means that he becomes incapable of (or above) such associations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is <em>yog-\u0101r\u016bdha<\/em>, who has cast aside all illusions (or erroneous notions).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, as the yoga-aspirer, -or who is preparing for meditation\u2014 is yet in object-associations, he has need to practice <em>karma<\/em> (work) as a means to estrange him from such associations, and (then) lead him on to meditation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, the yoga-aspirer shall practice <em>karma<\/em> alone, so as to abstract him from object-associations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The same subject is further amplified:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/6-5\">&gt;&gt;
