Chapter 6<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 6 verse 6<\/a><\/p>\n jithAthmana: praSAnthasya paramAthmA samAhitha: |<\/em> SIthOshNa sukha dhu:khEshu<\/em> – in cold-heat, joy-sorrow In the mind of one who is having an unaffected mind in cold-heat, joy-sorrow and in honour-dishonour and who is having control over sensory organs, jIvAthmA alone is well placed.<\/p>\n ‘By him, who has effected mind-control and has peace in the midst of cold and heat, joy and grief, honor and dishonor, the exalted \u0101tma is realized.’<\/span><\/p>\n When the mind is under control, when it is governed i.e.<\/em>, when it is incapable of being affected by cold or heat, joy or grief, honor or disgrace; when, in other words, it is serenely placid, then is the exalted \u0101tma fully realized therein.<\/span><\/p>\n Sam\u0101hita\u1e25<\/em>=samyag-\u0101hita\u1e25<\/em>=well-placed, or placed near, means that \u0101tma is realized in its own true essence.<\/span><\/p>\n Param-\u0101tma<\/em>, or exalted soul<\/em> is here used to denote Pratyag-\u0101tma, i.e.<\/em>, individual soul, as that is the subject in reference.
