This is equality, sameness, or agreement which is perceived when \u0101tma-nature is divested of its matter-connection (<em>i.e.<\/em>, \u0101tma in its disembodied condition).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inequality or difference comes from viewing \u0101tma in its matter-conditioned states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The yogi or he who is ripe in meditation does not see the differences produced by matter-environments, but perceives the sameness of \u0101tma-nature, wherever it do abide, by its essential or inherent common attribute or property of \u2018intelligence\u2019 or \u2018consciousness\u2019. This is <em>equal-seeing<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus the <em>equal-seer<\/em> is he who perceives the \u0101tma in him to be the same or of the same character, as the \u0101tmas which abide in other creatures, and that other creatures are equal to himself in this respect. (In other words, he sees \u0101tmas in all beings as like his own \u0101tma, and sees his \u0101tma as like \u0101tmas of other beings).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conclusion is that all \u0101tmas being of one essential nature, when one \u0101tma\u2019s nature is known or seen, the nature of all \u0101tmas are become known or seen. This sense is expressed by the sentence:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018He is a seer of <em>sameness<\/em> everywhere\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/6-29\/\">VI-29<\/a>). Referred to again in :<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018What this, sameness-seeing meditation (yoga) is, that Thou hast declared\u2019. (<em>yo-yam yogah<\/em> &amp;c). <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/6-33\/\">VI-33<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This sameness was what was again alluded to in:\u2014 <em>nirdosham<\/em> &amp;c):\u2014\u2018Verily is brahma (\u0101tma) stainless and the <em>same<\/em>\u2019[1.
