Oh arjuna! Thus you shall become a yOgi.<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;The yogi ranks higher than the <em>tapasv\u012bs<\/em>, higher yet than the <em>j\u00f1\u0101n\u012bs<\/em>; higher is he than the <em>karm\u012bs<\/em>. Hence, Arjuna! become thou the yogi.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Yoga (or <em>The<\/em> Path) leads to the highest aspiration of man, it is greater than what is attainable by the austere and ascetic mode of life (<em>tapas<\/em>); greater than what is attainable by various kinds of knowledge[1. Ved\u0101nt\u0101ch\u0101rya says in <em>T\u0101tparya-chandrika<\/em>: &#8216;Santi hi tat tad-yoga-\u015b\u0101strokt \u0101ni aupa-nishad-okt\u0101ni cha, devat\u0101ntara chandra-s\u016bry\u0101di-graha pran-en-driya-visha-y\u0101\u1e47i j\u00f1\u0101n\u0101ni&#8217;. Knowledge such as attaining psychic powers, or getting a knowledge of planets, the Sun, vital energy etc.] inferior to \u0101tma-knowledge, (this is the <em>j\u00f1\u0101ni<\/em> meant here); greater even than what is attainable by performers of A\u015bvamedha[2. Lit: horse-sacrifices, a ceremony emblematic of the immolation of a horse, by a king ambitious of universal empire. See Yajur-Veda, 22nd to 25th Chapters. They are not real sacrifices, but emblematic ceremonies. After certain prayers have been recited, the victims are let loose without injury. If the animals are actually immolated, they are in turn said to wreak their vengeance on the Sacrificer. Vide, <em>Bh\u0101gavata<\/em>; IV-28-26: \u2018tam yaj\u00f1\u0101-pa\u015bavo nena sa\u1e43 j\u00f1apt\u0101 ye day\u0101\u1e37un\u0101, ku\u1e6dh\u0101rai\u015b chicc\u1e25idu\u1e25 kruddh\u0101\u1e25 smaranto m\u012bvam asya yat.\u2019] and other Veda-writ ritualistic ceremonies (the <em>karm\u012bs<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence the yogi is superior to <em>the tapasv\u012bs<\/em>, to the <em>j\u00f1\u0101n\u012bs<\/em> and to the <em>karm\u012bs<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You, Arjuna!, become, therefore, this (kind of) yog\u012b.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So far, thus, the subject relating to (or how to acquire) \u0101tma-intuition (or \u0101tma-knowledge) as preliminary to the Higher knowledge (Para-vidy\u0101=God-intuition, or God-wisdom or Theosophy) propounded by Praj\u0101pati in the (Upanishad) passages, (Chh: Up.
