Vide, \u015a\u0101ndilya-S\u016btra 72: \u2018Gau\u1e47am traividhyam.\u2019 Also Read <em>Vish: Pur:<\/em>, III-8-6: \u201cBhaumam manoratham svargam, svargi-vandya\u00f1chayat padam, pr\u0101pnoty\u0101r\u0101dhite Vish\u1e47au Nirv\u0101\u1e47am api ch-otthamam.\u201d]&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The men of virtuous deeds (<em>suk\u1e5bitina\u1e25<\/em>), seek Me as their Asylum, and worship Me alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are of four classes, as distinguished by their several acts of virtue. In the order they are treated of (<em>infra<\/em>) each class is more superior than the preceding, by virtue of more and more meritorious deeds which they do, by which they are more elevated and exalted. They are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The <em>\u0101rta<\/em>[2. <em>\u0100rta<\/em>= \u2018The impoverished and distressed soul=He who, having been possessed of power and fortune and lost the same, seeks to be re-instated in the same.]=the distressed, or he who has lost fortune etc., which he is earnestly longing to recover.<\/li>\n<li>The <em>arth\u0101rthi<\/em>[3. <em>Arth-\u0101rth\u012b<\/em>=&#8217;The novice in fortune-seeking = He who, having never before tasted the sweets of power and fortune, has come to desire the same. Aspirants of this class, and those coming under the class mentioned in the last preceding note, are, together, included in one generic group, as being alike, seekers of power and fortune (<em>ai\u015bvary-\u0101rthina\u1e25<\/em>)&#8217; ditressed ]=the fortune-seeker, or he who is in quest of fortune which had never been possessed before.<\/li>\n<li>The <em>jij\u00f1\u0101su<\/em>[4. The seeker of self-knowledge and self-satisfaction,\u2019 prays the Lord, only to enable him to attain such goal by being released from entanglement in material bodies.\u201d (\u015ar\u012b Yog\u012b P\u0101rthas\u0101rath\u012b Aiyangar&#8217;s Engl: Trans; of <em>Tatva-traya<\/em>, p. 64.]=the soul-seeker or the <em>soul-wise<\/em> person or he who is in quest of \u0101tm\u0101, or who aspires to realize \u0101tm\u0101 <em>per se<\/em>, or in its state as dissociated from matter. Pure self-<em>knowledge<\/em> distinguishes this class, and hence one belonging to it is called <em>jij\u00f1\u0101su<\/em>, or he who is \u2018anxious to <em>know<\/em>, or anxious of <em>knowledge<\/em> (regarding \u0101tm\u0101).\u2019 And,<\/li>\n<li>The <em>j\u00f1\u0101ni<\/em>[5. <em>J\u00f1\u0101ni<\/em>=&#8217;The seeker of knowledge concerning God, and the sole<br \/>\nsatisfaction of God\u2019= he who, being enlightened (<em>J\u00f1\u0101ni<\/em>), stops not with the merely disembodied soul-essence, but desires to reach the Lord, holding the Lord alone to be his Goal, for, he fully realizes, and thence is ever loyal to, and delights solely in enjoying, the Lord in all His Universal Sovereignty.\u2019 <em>\u015ar\u012b Yogi P\u0101rthas\u0101rathi Aiyang\u0101r&#8217;s<\/em> Engl: Trans: of <em>Tatva-traya<\/em>, p. 65. Vide footnote 4 of <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/8-original\/\">Chapter 8 Introduction<\/a>.]=the sage, or the <em>God-wise<\/em> person, or he who has the wisdom to know that \u0101tma (soul) is essentially characterized by its being essentially related as liege to Lord, as declared in: (<em>itastv-any\u0101m<\/em> etc.)=\u2018but know <em>My<\/em> other nature, superior than that\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/7-5-original\/\">VII-5<\/a>). The j\u00f1\u0101ni therefore does not halt or stop away at the point where he may cognize the mere matter-distinct \u0101tma, but journeys onward to reach the Lord.
