For Mah\u0101-yaj\u00f1\u0101s, read note 2 for <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/3-8\/\">verse 3-8<\/a>.], as Adhidaiva[2. For Mah\u0101-yaj\u00f1\u0101s, read note 2 for <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/3-8\/\">verse 3-8<\/a>.], and as Adhiyaj\u00f1a; and all of them (have to) know Me, at time of death, mind-collected.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plural pronoun \u2018ye\u2019 = <em>those, the others,<\/em> is repeated in this verse, in order to show that the pronoun does not relate to the votaries already referred to (in <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/7-29\/\">verse 29<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though a relative pronoun has invariably the force of referring back to a previously noted subject, yet the pronoun in this verse, <em>viz.<\/em>, \u2018ye\u2019 (those) has an independent sense, inasmuch as it is indicative of another class of votaries <em>viz.<\/em>, those who seek fortune, the <em>ai\u015bvary-\u0101rthi<\/em>, to whom the knowledge of Me as identified with <em>Adhib\u016bta<\/em>, and as identified with <em>Adhidaiva<\/em> are requisites. To him therefore, the preceding verse has no allusion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The knowledge of Me as identified with <em>Adhi-yaj\u00f1a<\/em>, is a knowledge which all the three classes of God-worshippers have to acquire, in common; for it is evident that the obligation to perform the Mah\u0101-yaj\u00f1\u0101s[1. For Mah\u0101-yaj\u00f1\u0101s, read note 2 for <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/3-8\/\">verse 3-8<\/a>.] etc., in the shape of daily and casual duties, devolves equally on all of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All of them have also, in common, to know Me (<em>i.e.<\/em>, remember Me) at the time of departure or death, the character of that memory of Me being in accordance with the ideal which each class of the votaries (mentioned) has prescribed to itself as its goal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That the class who \u2018strive for deliverance from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/dotage\">dotage<\/a> and death\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/7-29\/\">verse 29<\/a> <em>ante<\/em>) comes in for the above-said memory-requisite at time of death, is indicated by the conjunctive particle \u2018cha\u2019 meaning \u2018and\u2019 (all of them).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conclusion from the tenor of the verses above (<em>viz<\/em>., <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/7-29\/\">29<\/a> and 30) is that it is a requisite for the <em>j\u00f1\u0101ni<\/em> (the God-sage also, \u2014compatible with the ideal of his own Goal\u2014 to know Me as identified with <em>Adhi-yaj\u00f1a<\/em>, and have My memory at the time of death.[2.
