O Best of beings!&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By <em>Adhibh\u016btam<\/em>, \u2014that which is to be known by the fortune-seeker (<em>ai\u015bvary-\u0101rthi<\/em>)\u2014 is that which is of the perishable nature, the transcendentally subtile principles of sound, touch, etc., with their supports \u2014the senses\u2014 which are latent in the elements, ether (<em>\u0101k\u0101\u015ba<\/em> etc.,), and develope therefrom. The subtile and transcendentally exquisite sound, touch, colour, taste and smell \u2014with their supports the (senses)\u2014 are mentioned here as objects upon which the fortune-seeker has necessarily to contemplate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Adhi-daivatam is Purusha<\/em>; Purusha is the conscious spirit \u2014the enjoyer,\u2014 whose status becomes above (<em>adhi<\/em>) the <em>daivatas<\/em>, the celestials or minor gods, such as Indra, Praj\u0101pati and all such lower divinities. (Not merely above them in position but the) Purusha is one who becomes the enjoyer of rare and keenly exquisite (<em>vilaksha\u1e47a<\/em>) delights of sound etc., surpassing even those that pertain to such celestials as Indra, Pra\u0101apati etc.[1. To him who gets riches through God, the delights granted are of such kind.]&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fortune-seekers (<em>ai\u015bvary-\u0101rthi<\/em>) have to meditate on such a Purusha, as the enjoyer of subtle transcendent delights; and this is what is called \u2018knowing the <em>adhidaivatam<\/em>&#8216;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Adhiyaj\u00f1a is Myself<\/em>:[2. Vide <em>Taitti: Samh:<\/em> i-74 (yaj\u00f1o vai Vish\u1e47u\u1e25).] The appellation Adhiyaj\u00f1a denotes Myself. It means that I am He, Who is present in Indra etc., that constitute My body\u2014 as He who is worshipped by sacrifices (<em>yaj\u00f1as<\/em>.,)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <em>Adhiyaj\u00f1a<\/em> is thus the Indwelling Myself and is He Whom all the three classes of My devotees (<em>bhaktas<\/em>) have to contemplate in all their acts of worship, <em>viz<\/em>: The <em>Mah\u0101-yaj\u00f1\u0101s<\/em>[3. Manu, iii, 69-71. The five Great Sacraments or Acts of Divine Worship ordained for every holy man are:- 1. <em>Adhy\u0101pana<\/em> = The teaching of the Sacred Scriptures, etc., called <em>Brahma-yaj\u00f1a<\/em>. 2. <em>Tarpa\u1e47a<\/em> = The oblation of water, food, etc., called <em>Pit\u1e5bi-yaj\u00f1a<\/em>. 3. <em>Homa<\/em> = The offering of clarified butter, etc., into fire, called <em>Deva-yaj\u00f1a<\/em>. 4. <em>Bali<\/em> = The distribution of food to creatures in general, called <em>Bh\u016bta-yaj\u00f1a<\/em>. 5. <em>Athiti-p\u016bjana<\/em> = entertainment of holy guests, called <em>N\u1e5bi-yaj\u00f1a<\/em>.
