{"id":3713,"date":"2017-01-30T19:57:44","date_gmt":"2017-01-30T19:57:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/?p=3713"},"modified":"2024-04-17T08:12:43","modified_gmt":"2024-04-17T08:12:43","slug":"9-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/9-1\/","title":{"rendered":"9.1 idham thu thE guhyathamam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><small>SrI:\u00a0 SrImathE SatakOpAya nama:\u00a0 SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama:\u00a0 SrImath varavaramunayE nama:<\/small><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chapter 9<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>SlOkam \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/9-1-original\/\">Original<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>SrI bhagavAn uvAcha<br \/>\n<em> idham thu thE guhyathamam pravakshyAmyanasUyavE |<\/em><br \/>\n<em> gyAnam vigyAnasahitham yath gyAthvA mOkshyasE\u2019SubhAth ||<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>word-by-word meaning<\/h3>\n<p>SrI bhagavAn uvAcha &#8211; Sri bhagavAn said<br \/>\nyath gyAthvA &#8211; knowing which<br \/>\naSubhAth mOkshyasE &#8211; relieved from all puNya\/pApa (virtues\/vices) (which stop you from attaining me)<br \/>\nidham guhya thamam gyAnam &#8211; this most secretive knowledge about upAsana (practicing bhakthi yOga)<br \/>\nvigyAna sahitham &#8211; with detailed knowledge about the various types of such upAsana<br \/>\nanasUyavE thE &#8211; to you who are not jealous of me<br \/>\npravakshyAmi &#8211; I shall explain<\/p>\n<h3>Simple Translation<\/h3>\n<p>SrI bhagavAn said :-<br \/>\nI shall explain to you, who are not jealous of me, this most secretive knowledge about upAsana (practicing bhakthi yOga) with detailed knowledge about the various types of such upAsana, knowing which you will be relieved from all puNya\/pApa.<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u015ar\u012b Bhagav\u0101n continued:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;This, the highest mystery of j\u00f1\u0101na coupled with vij\u00f1\u0101na, I shall declare to you, \u2014the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/artless\">artless<\/a>,\u2014 knowing which you shall, from all that is impure, be delivered.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fundamental principles distinguishing the different kinds of (God)-devotees (<em>up\u0101sakas<\/em>), were discussed (in <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/8-original\/\">Lect: VIII<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now (in Lect IX) (1), the glorious greatness of Parama-Purusha, the Object of devotion; (2) The importance of the <em>j\u00f1\u0101nis<\/em> (God-Saints); and (3) The nature of devotion called Bhakti or Up\u0101sana (God-love), will be examined into:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">K\u1e5bish\u1e47a, addressing Arjuna, says:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018To you Arjuna! who are <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/artless\">artless<\/a>, I will impart the mysterious knowledge (<em>j\u00f1\u0101na<\/em>) relating to bhakti or devotional contemplation,\u2019 and the further knowledge (<em>vij\u00f1\u0101na<\/em>) relating to the important goal to which it leads.[1. This mystery of the Path of Bhakti is again taught in the <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-original\/\">XVIIIth Lecture<\/a>, vide verses, <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-64-original\/\">64<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-66-original\/\">66<\/a>, (called <em>charama-\u015bloka<\/em>).
