aham – I am
\nkrathu – the yAgam (sacrifice such as jyOthistOmam etc)
\naham yagya – I am the pancha mahA yagyams (the five great sacrifices)
\naham svadhA – I am the svadhA (which gives strength to pithrus (ancestors))
\naham aushadham – I am the havis (offering given in sacrifices)
\naham manthra – I am the manthra
\naham Eva Ajyam – I am the offerings such as ghee etc
\naham agni – I am the fire (such as AhvanIyam)
\naham hutham – I am the hOmam (the fire rituals in the sacrifice)<\/p>\n

  1. Kratu<\/em>: I am the rituals of Veda-sacrifices known as Jyotishtoma[9. The name of a Sacrifice to gain Svarga.] etc.<\/li>\n
  2. Yaj\u00f1a: I am the acts of daily Sacrifices, the enjoined daily obligations, the Mah\u0101yaj\u00f1a[10. See footnote 4 to verse 3.8<\/a>. Cp. Bh: Gi:<\/em> IV-24<\/a>.].<\/li>\n
  3. Svadh\u0101: I am the food oblated in the Sacrifices, which goes to nourish the hosts of Pit\u1e5bis (departed ancestors, or divinities who preside over them).<\/li>\n
  4. Aushadha<\/em>: The classes of plants in general, or herbic compounds, or grain etc., offered, is Myself.<\/li>\n
  5. Mantra<\/em>: I Myself am the mantra<\/em>, or holy verses chanted during ritualistic ceremonies.<\/li>\n
  6. I am the clarified butter (which is poured into the fire accompanied with mantras<\/em>). This implies all other offerings such as soma<\/em>[11. The juice of the ‘Asclepias or Aesculapius’. But A\u1e47na More\u015bvar Kunte in his work Asht\u0101nga-h\u1e5bidaya<\/em> says, it is ‘Sarcostema Viminalis’. (P:3).].<\/li>\n
  7. I am the fire known as \u0100havan\u012bya[12. The Tret\u0101gni or the Three Fires, are the G\u0101rhaptya<\/em>=the householder\u2019s consecrated fire transmitted from father to son perpetually; the \u0100havan\u012bya<\/em> is the fire that is lit from this for sacrificial purposes; the Dakshi\u1e47\u0101<\/em> is the sacred fire placed towards the south, called Anv\u0101h\u0101rya-pachana in the Br\u0101hm\u0101\u1e47\u0101s.
