I am residing as antharyAmi in the hearts of all creatures. For all creatures, I am the cause for creation which happens first, the cause for sustenance which happens in the middle and the cause for annihilation which happens in the end.<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;I am the Soul, Gud\u0101ke\u015ba![1. Lit: the Conqueror of Sleep (<em>gud\u0101ka<\/em>=sleep)] enthroned in the hearts of all beings. I am the Beginning, the Middle as well as the End of all creatures.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the hearts of all beings, who constitute My body, I am seated as their \u0100tma (Soul) \u2014To be the \u0100tma is indeed to be in every manner the Support, the Ruler and the Master. As so it is further declared:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018In the heart of all am I firmly seated; from Me is memory, reason and conjecture etc\u2019 (<em>G\u012bt\u0101<\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/15-16-original\/\">xv-16<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018\u012a\u015bvara, Arjuna! resides in the hearts of all beings, causing them, by maya, to whirl on the (Karma-) machine.\u2019 (<em>G\u012bt\u0101<\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-16-original\/\">xviii-61<\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chant the \u015arutis also thus:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018He, Who is seated in all beings, \u2014Who is Innermost than all beings, \u2014Whom all the beings <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/ken#Verb\">ken<\/a> not, \u2014of Whom all beings form the body, \u2014Who rules in the interior of all beings, \u2014is your \u0100tma, Antary\u0101m\u012b, (Inner Ruler), Immortal\u2019[2. <em>Bri: Up\u00b0:<\/em> v-7-15. \u2018Yas sarveshu bh\u016bteshu tish\u1e6dhan sarvebhyo bhutebhyo`ntaro etc.,\u2019]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018He, Who seated in \u0100tma -Who is in the interior of \u0101tma, \u2014Whom atma does not know \u2014of Whom \u0101tma is body \u2014Who rules the interior of \u0101tma\u2014 is your \u0101tma, Inner Ruler, Immortal.\u2019[3. <em>Bri: Up\u00b0<\/em>: v-7-22. \u2018Ya \u0101tmani tish\u1e6dhan \u0101tmano`ntaro etc.,\u2019]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So seated then, \u2014as \u0100tma\u2014 among all creatures, I am their <em>Beginning<\/em>, <em>their Middle and their End<\/em>, <em>i.e.<\/em>, the Cause of their evolution, persistence and dissolution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus having shown how the Lord abides in all His manifested beings as their Soul, and how all terms in their ultimate reference (s\u0101m\u0101n\u0101dhi-k\u0101ranya)[4. Means, that two or more terms signifying different ideas, referring to but one object, such as the terms yellow and round etc., in the expression, yellow round orange referring to the object orange. \u2018The relation of co-ordinates.\u2019] connote the Lord Himself, this community of reference[5. The same rule holds good in regard to terms ultimately connotatively referring to the Lord Himself in His aspect as the Soul (of things denoted by such terms), \u2014as will be shown in verse:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Movable or immovable, nothing exists without Me, but within Me etc\u2019 (<em>G\u012bt\u0101<\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/10-39-original\/\">x-39<\/a>); a passage postulating the existence of nothing save as dependent on the Lord.
