Donning again the milder-looking guise, the High-Souled (God) comforted him, the dismayed (Arjuna).&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus did the son of Vasudeva discourse with the son of P\u0101\u1e47\u1e0du, and once more did display His familiar Four-armed Form. Arjuna had been startled at the unusual vision which he had witnessed; and he was now soothed by the Lord appearing in His accustomed gentler Appearance (as K\u1e5bish\u1e47a)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Mah\u0101tma<\/em>=(Lit): High-Souled, meaning, He Who is of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/indomitable\">Indomitable<\/a> Will.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The manifestation of this Lord of all, \u2014Supreme Spirit and Parabrahma, \u2014in human shape \u2014to bless the world,\u2014 and as son of Vasudeva, \u2014was with Four Arms; but in answer to the prayer of Vasudeva, who was in terror of Ka\u1e43sa, two arms were rendered invisible till the event befel, of Ka\u1e43sa\u2019s death, becoming visible again after that event. Vasudeva prayed thus:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Art Thou Incarnate, O Lord of the lord of lords! bearing the conch, the wheel, the mace? O God! this Figure is Divine; be thou pleased to conceal and conceal it.\u2019[1. <em>Vish: Pur:<\/em> V-3-10; \u2018J\u0101tosi deva-deve\u015ba! \u015ba\u1e47kha-chakra gad\u0101-dhara, divyam r\u016bpamidam Deva! pras\u0101den-opasamhara\u2019.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018O World-soul! this Four-Armed appearance etc.\u2019[2. <em>Vish: Pur:<\/em> V-3-12: \u2018Upasamhara Vi\u015bv\u0101tman! r\u016bpam etam chaturbhujam\u2019.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This four-armed figure of the son of Vasudeva was what constantly haunted \u015ai\u015bup\u0101la even, the enemy, so it is said:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Him Who is of Four Arms, broad and robust, bearing the conch, the discus, the mace etc.\u2019[3. <em>Bh\u0101gavata<\/em> (?). \u2018Ud\u0101ra-p\u012bvara-chatur-b\u0101hum, \u015bankha-chakra-gad\u0101-dharam\u2019. Read also <em>Vish: Pur:<\/em> IV-15, 10 to 15.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hence, P\u0101rtha also similarly exclaimed:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018With that very same Figure of Four Arms etc\u2019.
