And This Power (or Universal Dominion) was made manifest to him by the Blessed Lord of Will Resolute, \u2014the Lord of the Divine Attributes, \u2014countless and exalted, \u2014of mercy, bounty, affability etc., of which He is the Ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also it was shown that one-pointed and profound Bhakti alone was the Means by which to know and see and gain the Lord in His real nature.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, in this Lecture (XII), the following points will be considered:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The superiority of the Mode of Bhakti, involving God-meditation, over Soul-meditation (leading to Soul-realization only) in order to accomplish one\u2019s hoped-for ambition (<em>i.e.<\/em>, any of the <em>Four Purush\u0101rthas<\/em>),[1. <em>Purush\u0101rthas<\/em> are the Four Ambitions of man: (1) Dharma (meritorious works), subdivided into Vedic Sacrifice (<em>ishta<\/em>), and public works of charity such as tank-constructing (<em>p\u016brt\u0101<\/em>) etc. (2) <em>Artha<\/em> (wealth), or the Ved-appointed means of achieving \u2018works\u2019 on the one hand<br \/>\nand enjoyment (<em>k\u0101m\u0101<\/em> = 3) on the other. (3) <em>K\u0101ma<\/em> (enjoyment), or the tasting of pleasures, be they of this world or other material worlds such as svarga. (4) <em>Moksha<\/em> (Deliverance or Salvation) is either <em>Kaivalya<\/em> or soul-enjoyment (=the Goal of Self-seekers), or <em>Brahm\u0101nubhava<\/em> or God-enjoyment (the Goal of God-seekers).]\u2014(superiority) in point of early fulfilments (of hopes), and in point of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/felicity\">felicity<\/a> of performance.<\/li>\n<li>The method of practising it (<em>G\u012b<\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12-2-original\/\">xii-2<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>The <em>Akshara<\/em>-Path (<em>Gi:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12-3-original\/\">xii-3<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12-4-original\/\">4<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12-5-original\/\">5<\/a>) for him who is inept[2. The ineptitude comes from the absence of love in devotion. This is explained in the commentary to stanza 12 <em>ff<\/em>.] for Bhakti and its requisites.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The superiority of God-Love (Bhakti-Path) consists in the superiority of the Object of that Love, <em>viz<\/em>., God Himself. This superiority was briefly indicated in the Stanza: \u2018More even than the Yogis and of all, is he said to be the most superior, who, in faith and with his inmost heart (manas) plunged in Me, worships Me.\u2019 (<em>G\u012b<\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/6-47-original\/\">VI-47<\/a>).[3.
