{"id":4633,"date":"2017-07-12T19:25:10","date_gmt":"2017-07-12T19:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/?p=4633"},"modified":"2017-07-12T19:25:10","modified_gmt":"2017-07-12T19:25:10","slug":"12-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12-1\/","title":{"rendered":"12.1 Evam sathathayukthA yE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><small>SrI:\u00a0 SrImathE SatakOpAya nama:\u00a0 SrImathE rAmAnujAya nama:\u00a0 SrImath varavaramunayE nama:<\/small><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chapter 12<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12\">&lt;&lt; Chapter 12 Introduction<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>SlOkam \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/12-1-original\/\">Original<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>arjuna uvAcha<br \/>\n<em>Evam sathathayukthA yE bhakthAs thvAm paryupAsathE |<\/em><br \/>\n<em> yE chApyaksharam avyaktham thEshAm kE yOgaviththamA: ||<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>word-by-word meaning  <\/h3>\n<p>arjuna uvAcha &#8211; arjuna asked<br \/>\nEvam &#8211; as explained in previous SlOkam<br \/>\nsathatha yukthA: &#8211; desiring to be together with you always<br \/>\nyE bhakthA: &#8211; those devotees<br \/>\nthvAm &#8211; you<br \/>\nparyupAsathE &#8211; worship perfectly<br \/>\nyE chApi &#8211; those<br \/>\navyaktham &#8211; inconceivable by the sensory organs<br \/>\naksharam &#8211; (who worship) the jIvAthmA (self)<br \/>\nthEshAm &#8211; among these two<br \/>\nkE &#8211; who<br \/>\nyOga viththamA: &#8211; will attain their goal quickly?<\/p>\n<h3>Simple Translation  <\/h3>\n<p>arjuna asked &#8211; Who among the two types of people will attain their goal quickly- a) those devotees who perfectly worship you desiring to be together with you always as explained in previous SlOkam and b) those who worship the jIvAthmA (self) which is inconceivable by the sensory organs?<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Queries Arjuna:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Of those who thus \u2014Your bhaktas\u2014 ever devout, worship You, and of those who betake to the Imperishabie-Immanifest, which are the better informed of yoga?&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Satata-yukt\u0101\u1e25<\/em>=ever devout (or ever intent in thought for union with You): are those of the character portrayed in the Stanza: \u2018Doing work <em>for<\/em> Me\u2019 etc., (<em>Gi:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/11-55-original\/\">XI-55<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Tv\u0101m up\u0101sate<\/em>=Worship You=Worship You, the Lord, deeming You as the very Fulfilment of their sublimest ambition; \u2014You the Perfect, \u2014the Sovereign of all Kosmic glories, \u2014the Possessor of such countless and exalted characteristics as (Divine) Beauty, Affability, etc., and Omniscience, Infallible Will etc\u2014; these are Your Lovers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The other worshippers are the worshippers of The Imperishable-Immanifest (<em>Aksharam-avyaktam<\/em>), those who contemplate on the nature of <em>pratyag\u0101tma<\/em> (=j\u012bv\u0101tma= Individual soul).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Pratyag-\u0101tma<\/em> is <em>aksharam<\/em>=imperishable;and <em>avyaktam<\/em>=indiscernible, inasmuch as \u0101tma is that which is not an object of perception or manifest to any of the senses, the eye etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of these two classes, which are the better yoga-informed (<em>yoga-vit-tam\u0101h<\/em>)!, meaning, who would reach their respective goals sooner?.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Before long, P\u0101rtha!
