Thus by virtue of ruling, supporting, and enjoying the body, the <em>purusha<\/em> is the <em>great lord (mahe\u1e63vara)<\/em> of the body, and the senses and the mind therein. That he is such a lord (<em>\u012b\u1e63vara<\/em>), is further declared thus:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018When the lord (<em>\u012b\u1e63vara<\/em>) goes into the body, and when he goes out of it, he seizes these and goes, like wind (seizing) the scents from their seats.\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/15-8-original\/\"><em>Gi:<\/em> XV-8<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To the body, the senses and the mind, he is also said to be <em>param\u0101tma<\/em>=supreme spirit, \u2014within the limits of the body. The term \u2018\u0101tma\u2019 is often applied to signify \u2018body&#8217;, and \u2018mind,\u2019 as for example in:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018By meditation do some perceive soul in \u0101tma (body), by \u0101tma(mind).\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/13-24-original\/\"><em>G\u012b:<\/em> XIII-24<\/a>).
