Chapter 14<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 14 verse 4<\/a><\/p>\n Simple<\/a><\/p>\n sattva\u1e41 rajas tama iti ‘Satvam, Rajas, Tamas[1. Vide footnote 1 to verse 2.45<\/a>], are qualities matter-born, which, O Great-armed! bind the imperishable ego in the body.’<\/span><\/p>\n Satvam, Rajas and Tamas are the three qualities (or affections or humours or tempers) of matter=those inhering<\/a> in the matter-stuff.
