Chapter 15<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 15 verses 3 and 3.5<\/a><\/p>\n Simple<\/a><\/p>\n tam eva c\u0101dya\u1e41 puru\u1e63a\u1e41 prapadye ‘Let Him the Primal Purusha alone be sought as the Refuge \u2014He from Whom is the old\u00a0will (or impulses) derived.’<\/span><\/p>\n He is Primal or the Beginning of everything, as declared in such Stanzas as:<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018By Me the Presider, matter begets all the Mobiles and the Immobiles\u2019 (Gi:<\/em> IX-10<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018I am the Origin of all, from Me operates everything.\u2019 (Gi:<\/em> X-8<\/a>).)<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018Naught whatsoever higher than I the Primal Purusha; exists, Dhana\u00f1jaya!\u2019 (Gi:<\/em> VII-6.5<\/a>);<\/span><\/p>\n and let Him therefore be sought as the Refuge, inasmuch as all old material instincts in the shape of attachment for Gu\u1e47a-charged enjoyments proceed from Him, the all-Creator (vide, Gi:<\/em> XIV 3<\/a> and<\/em> 4<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n I Myself have already declared:\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018Verily is this My divine M\u0101y\u0101 Gu\u1e47a-full, hard to surmount. Those who resort to Me alone as their Refuge, do pass this M\u0101y\u0101.\u2019 (Gi:<\/em> VII-14<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n A variant in this Stanza is \u2018prapady-cyata\u1e25<\/em>\u2019. Instead of \u2018prapadyed-yata\u1e25<\/em>\u2019. In this case the division of the former compound term would be \u2018prapadya, iyata\u1e25<\/em>\u2019; The interpretation of the Stanza would then stand thus:-<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018By the mere step taken (iyata<\/em>) viz.<\/em>, of having taken Him as Refuge, all those (spiritual) instincts of old will awaken in him.
