Chapter 17<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 17 Verse 12<\/a><\/p>\n vidhihInam asrushtAnnam mantrahInam adhakshiNam |<\/em> vidhi hInam – devoid of permission (of brAhmaNas) The yagya which is devoid of permission (of brAhmaNas), having materials which are earned by unrighteous means, devoid of proper manthras, devoid of offerings [to the brAhamaNas et al] and done without faith, is declared (by the knowers of SAsthram) as thAmasa yagyam (yagya in the mode of ignorance).<\/p>\n ‘That Yaj\u00f1a, they say, is T\u0101masa, which is void of authority, which is devoid of earned food, devoid of Mantra and money-gifts; and devoid of faith.’<\/span><\/p>\n Vidhi-h\u012bna<\/em> = Void of authority, or the sanction of the Br\u0101hma\u1e47as, who are wise both in precept and practice; devoid of their verbal sanction such as: \u2018Do this Sacrifice.\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n As\u1e5bisht\u0101nnam<\/em> = Food not lawfully earned. Food means things = (dravya<\/em>), required for performing a Sacrifice. Means unprescribed food (by Law), or food prohibited (by Law)[1.
