Chapter 17<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 17 Verse 23<\/a><\/p>\n thasmAdhOm ithyudhAhruthya yagyadhAnathapa:kriyA: |<\/em> thasmAth – as the vaidhika karmas along with these three words are created (in this manner, by me) As the vaidhika karmas along with these three words are created (in this manner, by me), the vaidhika rituals such as yAgam (sacrifices), dhAnam (charities), thavam (penances) which are practiced by those [brAhmaNas, kshathriyas and vaiSyas] who recite vEdham as ordained in vEdha vAkyams (verses in vEdham), are practiced always, only after reciting “Om” first.<\/p>\n ‘With Brahmav\u0101dis, therefore, all Veda-enjoined acts, Sacrifice (yaj\u00f1a<\/em>), Gift (d\u0101na<\/em>) and Austerity (tapas<\/em>) always begin with the repetition of OM.’<\/span><\/p>\n Brahmav\u0101dis<\/em>=Veda-v\u0101dis, or those who follow the Vedas or the Three Castes.<\/span><\/p>\n Yaj\u00f1a, D\u0101na, and Tapas are Veda-prescribed performances. They always begin by the recital of the holy Syllable OM. Vedas also begin thus. Thus the connection of the symbol OM with Vedas and Veda-bid Yaj\u00f1as etc., has been shown.
