Some other learned persons say that the abandonment of results of all karmas, is known as thyAgam.<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;Learned men understand by Sanny\u0101sa, the abandonment of <em>k\u0101mya<\/em>-works; (others) the wise, declare that Ty\u0101ga is the fruit-abandonment of <em>all<\/em> works.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some learned men understand that Sanny\u0101sa is the abandonment of \u2014or abstention from\u2014 doing <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/frugiferous\">frugiferous<\/a> (=<em>k\u0101mya<\/em>) actions. And some other wise men assert that in the authoritative works treating of Moksha, Ty\u0101ga means the resignation of the <em>fruits<\/em> attached to all actions, whether they be of the kind of <em>nitya<\/em> (daily duties), <em>naimittika<\/em> (casual duties) or <em>k\u0101mya<\/em> (specific acts prescribed for specific objects). The contention here is whether the tone of the \u015a\u0101stras (Authoritative Works) is for the abandonment of <em>k\u0101mya<\/em> works alone or whether it is for the resignation of the fruits of <em>all<\/em> kinds of works (<em>nitya<\/em>, etc). In the former sense, the term Sanny\u0101sa was used, and in the latter Ty\u0101ga. In both cases what is common is \u2018renunciation,\u2019 (of something or other). In this sense both Ty\u0101ga and Sanny\u0101sa are identical. That they are used synonymously and to signify the same sense is evident from such passages also such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Hear from Me, O Best of Bharatas! the truth about this Ty\u0101ga\u2019 (<em>Gi:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-4-original\/\">XVIII-4<\/a>), \u2014where Ty\u0101ga ultimately decides the question as meaning Renunciation (i.e., not abandonment of works, but doing them as duty and therefore abandoning fruits or returns therefor only); \u2014and other passages also such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018The abandonment of obligatory work is improper. Its abandonment from misconception is declared to be T\u0101masa.\u2019 (<em>Gi:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-7-original\/\">XVIII-7<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Three-fold is the fruit of work, undesirable, desirable and mixed, which non-renouncers reap hereafter, and never the renouncers\u2019.
