Chapter 18<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 18 Verse 8<\/a><\/p>\n kAryam ithyEva yath karma niyatham kriyathE\u2019rjuna |<\/em> arjuna – Oh arjuna! Oh arjuna! If nithya (daily), naimiththika (occasional) karmas are performed thinking that performing the karma itself is the purpose, giving up the attachment of thinking “this is my karma” and the result of the karma, such thyAgam (renunciation) is said to be caused by sathva guNam (quality of goodness).<\/p>\n ‘That is deemed S\u0101tvika-Renunciation, where work is done as duty incumbent, but attachment resigned, as also fruit.’<\/span><\/p>\n One must understand that all works such as the nitya, naimittika<\/em> etc., Mah\u0101yaj\u00f1as, prescribed as duties devolving on the several Var\u1e47as and \u0100\u015bramas are but modes of My worship, being in themselves the end.
