Chapter 18<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 18 Verse 12<\/a><\/p>\n panchaithAni mahAbAhO kAraNAni nibOdha mE |<\/em> mahAbAhO – Oh mighty armed! Oh mighty armed! Learn from me these five causes which are said to be required to fulfil all actions, while determining the truth using true knowledge in line with vEdham.<\/p>\n ‘Learn from Me, O Mighty-armed! these five causes for the fulfilment of all acts, declared in the s\u0101\u1e47khya-system.’<\/span><\/p>\n Sankhy\u0101 = Sense or reasoning or ratiocination<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n S\u0101nkhye k\u1e5bit\u0101nte<\/em> = The system composed according to the reasoning in the (or the sense of the) Vaidika-tenets, regarding the categorical nature of things.<\/span><\/p>\n These five causes<\/em> are component factors, all combining to produce one work.<\/span><\/p>\n Learn from Me<\/em> = Through Me, learn to contemplate on them.<\/span><\/p>\n This Vaidika-sense is verily that which conclusively regards, Param\u0101tma alone as the Author, having j\u012bv\u0101tma (soul), pr\u0101\u1e47a (life), the senses, and the body, as His instruments, as evidenced by such passages as:<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018Who is seated in \u0101tma, Who the Interior of \u0101tma, Whom \u0101tma knows not, of Whom \u0101tma is body, Who rules in the interior of \u0101tma, \u2014He is your \u0100tma, the Inner Guide, the Immortal.\u2019[1.
