That dhruthi (steadiness) with which one who desires for results (other than mOksham) with great attachment, sustains the acts which are means for the three purushArthams viz dharma, artha and kAma, is caused by rajO guNam.<\/p>\n<h3>Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy\u2019s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216;That is R\u0101jasa-Purpose, P\u0101rtha! by which, \u2014 from motives of attachment and fruit\u2014, Dharma, pleasures and wealth are maintained.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That is R\u0101jasa-Purpose or Will by which a person, who, longing for fruit, and who, on account of much attachment, \u2014maintains, feeds or keeps alive such desires as virtue (<em>dharma<\/em>), pleasures (<em>k\u0101ma<\/em>), and wealth (<em>artha<\/em>) is the paraphrase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Dharma<\/em>, <em>K\u0101ma<\/em> and <em>Artha<\/em>[1. Four-fold aspirations of man, <em>dharma<\/em> (meritorious work done here carrying with it the virtue of bringing future happiness, mundane or otherwise), <em>artha<\/em> (riches and general prosperity), <em>k\u0101ma<\/em> (enjoyments), <em>moksha<\/em> (deliverance or Salvation).] figuratively stand for the means by which those ambitions are achieved, viz., the powers of mind, life, and the senses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Fruit<\/em>, aimed at, is only the fruit of these, viz: <em>Dharma, K\u0101ma and Artha<\/em> (<em>not Moksha of Stanza <a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-33-original\/\">33<\/a><\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, that Purpose or Will is called R\u0101jasa, which maintains or sustains the energies of the mind, life and the senses directing themselves to the achieval of the ends, viz: <em>Dharma, K\u0101ma and Artha<\/em>.[2.
