Chapter 18<\/a><\/p>\n << Chapter 18 Verse 39<\/a><\/p>\n Simple<\/a><\/p>\n na tad asti p\u1e5bthivy\u0101\u1e41 v\u0101 ‘No being exists either on earth, or above amid the Devas, exempt from these triple matter-born Gu\u1e47as.’<\/span><\/p>\n On earth<\/em> = among men; above<\/em> in the higher regions amongst the Devas<\/em> = celestials. All from Brahm\u0101 down to the plant, there is not one creature which is free from these three qualities (gu\u1e47as), begotten of matter.<\/span><\/p>\n Thus, Ty\u0101ga \u2014Renunciation\u2014 referred to in the \u015aruti:<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018By Ty\u0101ga they obtain Immortality\u2019[1. ], as the Means to Moksha, does not differ from what the term Sanny\u0101sa signifies. Both mean Renunciation in the sense that works ought to be performed, but all idea of agentship therein (personality) should be sacrificed. Sacrifice (1) of fruit for work done (2) of the idea of arrogation of work to self, and (3) of one\u2019s own authorship of work, are to be realized by the reflection which sacrifices to, or ascribes to, Paramapurusha alone, all Authorship. This reflection is evoked under the dominating influence of Satva-gu\u1e47a alone.
