And service constitutes the duty native to a \u015a\u016bdra.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>K\u1e5bishi<\/em> = Culture intended to produce crop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Go-raksha<\/em> = The protection of cattle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Va\u1e47ijyam<\/em> = All those trading concerns consisting of buying and selling which bring in money.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are duties proper to a Vai\u015bya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And acts of service to all these three classes constitute the duty proper to a \u015a\u016bdra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus in defining the duties, the necessary performance of \u015a\u0101stra-enjoined acts such as Yaj\u00f1a etc., and the occupations of the Four Varnas, have all been implied.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yaj\u00f1as etc., are certainly common to the Three Var\u1e47as (Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, Kshatriya and Vai\u015bya). \u015aama, Dama etc., are also common to all the Three Var\u1e47as, but being natural to and easily attained by, the Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, by reason of Satvam being regnant in him, they were allotted to him as his characteristics proper; and not allotted to the Kshatriya and the Vai\u015bya inasmuch as by reason of Rajas and Tamas being uppermost in them, they (\u015aama) etc., are not easily attained by them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for the occupation of the Br\u0101hma\u1e47a, it is to teach others to conduct Yaj\u00f1as, to teach others Vedas, and receive gifts; the occupation of the Kshatriya is to rule the country; of the Vai\u015bya, cultivation of land etc., as aforesaid; and of the \u015a\u016bdra, to do all supporting services necessary for the due discharge of duties apportioned to the three (above-stated) classes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/githa.koyil.org\/index.php\/18-45\">&gt;&gt;
