abhisandhāya tu phalaṁ
dambhārtham api caiva yat
ijyate bharata-śreṣṭha
taṁ yajñaṁ viddhi rājasam
‘But that Yajña, know, Bharata-Chief! is Rājasa, which with an aim for fruit and for display—, one performs.’
Know that Yajña to be of the Rajas-character, which is done for the sake of fruit, and which is vitiated further by the desire for notoriety.
