‘Those men know what the Day and the Night of Brahmā is, who know that the Day spans one thousand Yugas, and the Night, one thousand Yugas[1. Kali-yuga = 360,000;
Sandhi = 72,000
Total = 432,000 mortal years = 1200 Divine years
Dvāpara-yuga= 720,000;
Sandhi = 144,000
Total = 864,000 mortal years = 2400 Divine years
Tretā-yuga = 1,080,000;
Sandhi = 216,000
Total = 1,296,000 mortal years = 3600 Divine years
Kṛita-yuga = 1,440,000;
Sandhi = 288,000
Total = 1,728,000 mortal years = 4800 Divine years.
Total of Four Yugas = 4,320,000 = one Mahā-yuga.
1000 Mahā-yugas = A Day of Brahmā
1000 Mahā-yugas = A Night of Brahmā
A Day of Brahmā + A Night of Brahmā = A Kalpa
360 Kalpas = one year of Brahmā; 100 such years = a Mahā—Kalpa = The age of Brahmā. Vide also, Note 1, verse 4.8.].’
