SlOkam – Original

idham adhya mayA labdham imam prApsyE manOratham |
idham asthIdham api mE bhavishyathi punar dhanam ||

word-by-word meaning (based on puththUr krishNamAchArya swAmy’s thamizh translation)

idham – all these (lands, children etc)
adhya – now
mayA – by my ability
labdham – attained;
imam manOratham – this object which is desired
prApsyE – will attain (with my own ability);
idham (dhanam) asthi – I have this wealth due to my ability.
(idham) dhanam – This wealth (which I desire to attain)
mE puna: bhavishyathi – I will attain again (due to my ability).

Simple Translation (based on puththUr krishNamAchArya swAmy’s thamizh translation)

All these (lands, children etc) have been attained now by my ability; I will attain this object which is desired (with my own ability); I have this wealth due to my ability. I will attain again (due to my ability) this wealth (which I desire to attain).

Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy’s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam

‘(Say they): “By me has this to-day been gained; I shall gain this heart-desire; this money I have, and again it, will I earn.”’

This = Land, sons etc. They have all been acquired by me, i.e., by my own exertion; there is no other unseen cause therefor. And whatever be my heart’s-desires (manoratha), I shall be able to have them fulfilled by Myself; no other unseen Agent exists.

‘And this money that I have I have earned indeed, by my own single individual efforts. And I am going to have more of it too by my own effort.’
