<< Chapter 16 Verse 18

SlOkam – Original

thAn aham dvishatha: krUrAn samsArEshu narAdhamAn |
kshipAmyajasram aSubhAn AsurIshvEva yOnishu ||

word-by-word meaning (based on puththUr krishNamAchArya swAmy’s thamizh translation)

dhvishatha: – having hatred towards me (as explained previously)
krUrAn – being cruel
narAdhamAn – being lowly amongst men
aSubhAn – being inauspicious
thAn – those (demoniac people)
aham – I
ajasram – continuously
samsArEshu – in births (which contain repeated birth, death, old-age and disease)

(further, in that)
Asurishu Eva yOnishu – that too, in demoniac births
kshipAmi – I push them

Simple Translation (based on puththUr krishNamAchArya swAmy’s thamizh translation)

I continuously push those (demoniac people) who are having hatred towards me (as explained previously), being cruel, being lowly amongst men, being inauspicious, in births (which contain repeated birth, death, old-age and disease), that too, in demoniac births.

Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy’s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam

‘Them, the hating, cruel, evil, vile men, I ever do place in samsāra, aye in wombs demoniac.’

Whoso, —these vile, evil, impure men,—
antagonize Me, I hurl them, ever into the current of existence, constituting birth, dotage and death. Even there, I fling them into demoniac wombs, i.e., such births as may help to increase their aversion for Me; in other words I Myself will give them such cruel understanding as would impel them to actions as are well suited to the circumstances of birth in which they are born.
