vAyur yamO’gnir varuNa: SaSAnka: prajApathis thvam prapithAmahaS cha |

word-by-word meaning

prapithAmaha: thvam – you are the father of brahmA, the grandsire
vAyu: – as vAyu (deity for air)
yama: – as yama (deity for dharma)
agni: – as agni (deity for fire)
varuNa: – as varuNa  (deity for water)
SaSAnka: – as chandhra (the deity for moon)
prajApathi: cha – as prajApathis (progenitors) and their father brahmA

Simple Translation

You are the father of brahmA, the grandsire; you appear as vAyu, yama, agni, varuNa, chandhra and prajApathis and their father brahmA,

‘Vāyu, and Yama, Agni and Varuṇa, and the moon are You; the Grand-sire and the Great Grand-sire’.

You are the Great Grand-sire: The Prajāpatis are the Patriarchs of all creatures. The Father of the Prajāpatis is Hiraṇyagarbha, and therefore You are the Grand-Sire= Pitāmaha. Of Hiraṇyagarbha also, You are the Father and therefore the great Grand-sire of creatures=Prapitāmaha; the sense being that every term such as Pitāmaha, is Your name by the fact of Your being the indwelling Soul of all viz., Hiraṇyagarbha etc.,
