imam vivasvathE yOgam prokthavAn aham avyayam |

SrI bhagavAn uvAcha – Sri Krishna said
aham – I
avyayam – imperishable
imam yOgam – this karma yOga which was taught in previous chapter
vivasvathE – to sUrya (the presiding deity of sun)
prOkthavAn – taught (at the beginning of vaivasvatha manvanthra)
vivasvAn – sUrya
manavE – to manu (of the vaivasvatha manvanthra)
prAha – taught
manu: – manu
ikshvAkavE – to (his son) ikshvAku
abravIth – taught.
Simple Translation
Sri Krishna said, I taught this imperishable karma yOga to sUrya. sUrya taught this to manu. manu taught this to ikshvAku.

Śrī Bhagavān (Lord Kṛishṇa) spoke :—
‘I was the Teacher of this eternal Yoga[2. Read Pātanjala Yoga Sūtra I-26.], to Vivasvān[3. This is the Solar Dynasty.] (the Sun); Vivasvān declared it to Manu[5. This is the Solar Dynasty.]; Manu imparted it to Ikshvāku[6. This is the Solar Dynasty.].’
