viparītāni keśava
na ca śreyo ’nupaśyāmi
hatvā sva-janam āhave

Keśava[1. The 23rd and 654th name of God. The etymology is given thus in Harivamśa: “Ka iti Brahmaṇo nā-maiśoham sarva-dehinām, āvāntavānge sambhūtau, tasmāt Keśava nāmavān.“]! Also do I perceive inauspicious omens; What good can follow from my people’s carnage in war?
