aprApya yOgasamsiddhim kAm gathim krishNa gachchathi ||
krishNa – Oh krishNa!
SradhdhayA – faithfully
upEtha: – who began the yOga practice
ayathi: – lacking efforts (in firm yOga practice)
(as a result of that)
yOga samsidhdhim aprApya – while his yOga is not fulfilled
yOgAth chalitha mAnasa: – having a heart which slipped in the yOga practice
kAm gathim – which goal (among enjoyment, liberation or hell)
gachchathi – will reach?
Oh krishNa! If one faithfully begins the yOga practice but lacks efforts (in firm yOga practice), as a result of that, is having a heart which slipped in the yOga practice even while his yOga is not fulfilled, which goal will such person reach?
Rendering based on ALkoNdavilli gOvindhAchArya swAmy’s English translation of gIthA bhAshyam
‘Which way goes he, Krishna! who, ardent, yet for want of application, has his mind moved away from yoga, and (hence) does not reach yoga-perfection?’
