dhrutharAshtra uvAcha

dharmakshEthrE kurukshEthrE samavEthA yuyuthsuva: |
mAmakA: pANdavAschaiva kimakurvatha sanjaya ||

sanjaya – Oh sanjaya!
dharmakshEthrE kurukshEthrE – in the righteous land of kurukshEthra
yuyuthsava – having the desire to fight
samavEthA – assembled as a group
mAmakA: – my sons
pANdavA: cha Eva – and the sons of pANdu
kim akurvatha – what did they do?
dhritharAshtra: uvAcha – thus said dhritharAshtra

Simple Translation

dhritharAshtra said – Oh sanjaya! Having assembled in the righteous land of kurukshEthra with the desire to fight, what did my sons and pANdu’s sons do?

Purport

Dhṛitaṛāshtra asked:– “O Sañjaya! What did my people and the Paṇdavās, assembled on the plains of Kurukshetra[4. A tract of land to the east of Jamna (yamuna) river, in the upper part of Doab near Delhi. Hastinapura was its capital.], the land of Dharma (righteousness), to carry on war, do?”
