Chapter 18

Simple

siddhiṁ prāpto yathā brahma
tathāpnoti nibodha me
samāsenaiva kaunteya
niṣṭhā jñānasya yā parā

‘Learn from Me in brief, Kaunteya! how the perfection-attained reaches Brahm[1. Brahm here means the soul in agreement with that sense intended to be conveyed by the same term according in Stanza 53 following.], the culminating Goal of Knowledge.’

The perfection-attained = He who by ceaselessly practising Karma-Yoga has attained to the perfection of dhyāna or devotional contemplation.

Learn from Me briefly how, or by what conduct, such a person reaches Brahm:

Brahm (or soul) is described as that which is the High Goal or Aim of knowledge, or knowledge full of devotion.
